EVENT LOG: 1 || 2ND FLOOR

The air in the hotel resumes its stale smell once the clock struck nine. The atmosphere becomes musty, the walls dinge and mildew. It's the same thing that happens each night at the Cardinal Glen, and the guests are likely used to the change by now. The desk clerk sees the time on the old clock in the lobby and takes to his break, stealing away to the kitchen as the clock's gongs echo throughout the first floor.
As if on cue, the lights of the second floor hallway flicker and flare. There's an oppresive air at the end of the hall, opposite of the stairs at room 207 were one to be out despite the warnings of night walking. Everything starts to feel heavy, the only refuge being a guest's room. As the minute hand ticks away, sounds begin to fill the void. The first sound one would notice is the creaking. The slow, sure creaking of the floor at the end of the hall. The second is the footsteps. A heavy, ominous tread of a single being walks down the hall of the second floor, slowing only in front of each guest's door, as if listening for something. Anything.
Once at the stair case, the footsteps stop, as if the being has left the floor.
Within minutes, the footsteps return, starting at the stairs and making their way back to its origin at room 207. If characters were to peek outside their door, they would see nothing. No person, no being, no spirit. Only air and the grimy, peeling wallpaper they see each night. But the sounds begin each hour, from room 207 to the stairs and back, until the lobby clock strikes 6:00.
